A bit of history - A recipe rooted in southern India

A South Indian meal  could not be complete without a Sambar. This lentil-based sauce is said to have been created in the 17th century in Tamilakam. This term refers to the old name of southern India which mainly covered the regions of Tamilnadu, Puducherry, Karnataka and Kerala. In Tamilakam, Tamil (" tamil ") was the main language.

Despite having roots in southern India, Sambar has become a staple dish throughout the entire country.

We have named this recipe Moringa Dahl, with "Dahl" meaning lentil in Hindi and "Moringa" referring to the leaves of the tree of the same name.

A Recipe synonymous with Well-being

The combination of coral lentils and moringa leaves make this recipe a perfect ally for vegetarians and vegans. Coral lentils are high in plant-based proteins and fiber, while Moringa is rich in protein, vitamins, and minerals. The ultimate superfood.

Moreover, Moringa Dahl is versatile and its recipe can be supplemented with many vegetables (e.g. eggplant, carrot, or cauliflower) and can be served with basmati rice, dosai (rice pancake), pongal, or idli (salty rice cake).

If you want to focus on your well-being, choose idli, which has numerous benefits. It is made from a fermented mixture of decorticated black lentils and rice, and is steamed. Fermentation of cereals and legumes facilitates digestion.

Our Family

In our youth, we savored this sauce for breakfast with idlis, lunch with basmati rice and fried fish, or dinner with dosai. We also enjoyed this dish for special events, such as weddings or Pongal (harvest festival).

Every occasion is a good reason to appreciate a Moringa Dhal.
